Warning
Many notes in this blog are still unfinished or only exist as a barebone, some are about topics I havenβt tested or implemented yet but want to eventually. Some notes are tagged as internal to reflect that they are mainly created for my personal documentation.
Hi, welcome to my notes and thoughts :D
Soon after realizing that my previous method, βdigitale Zettelwirtschaftβ, an unsustainable way of organizing my thoughts was, was I searching for a more structured alternative. I chose Quartz for its native integration with Obsidian and its other great features, like the incredible fast search (try [ctrl]+[k]
), the popover previews (hover over an internal link) and the graph view (klick the little graph symbol in the Graph Viewβs top right corner). These features make Quartz an ideal choice as a personal knowledge management system, a second brain or a βdigital gardenβ, a topic which I havenβt explored myself yet.
By making my notes public Iβm forcing myself to write with some coherence in mind, which should help my future self finding stuff. Hopefully it will also improve my english writing skills (most of this blog is in english, but some notes, mainly recipes, are in german). As a final inspiration, Iβve come quite often across some tech blogs on the web after googling about how to implement something or resolve a specific, often Selfhosted related problem, so I hope this pile of notes may be useful to somebody else someday :D
This blog runs on a slightly tweaked version of the static-site generator Quartz, hosted on GitHub Pages. The content is written in Markdown using Obsidian and backed up with Obsidianβs git plugin. Iβve documented my workflow here.

My interests
I want to write about many different topics, but they can (hopefully) be categorized in some way. Here are overviews of all π notes and all π· tags.
- π§ Braindump
A place for thoughts and stuff that doesnβt fit the other categories. New ideas, unfinished thoughts, plans, things I stumbled upon the net, stuff like that ;) - πΊ Home Brewing and cooking Recipes
A hobby of mine is home brewing which I like for its combination of traditional techniques and modern experiments, its fusion of handcrafting and automation (I use a RaspberryPi for this) - and of course it provides you with tasty beer ;)
Documenting my suds (brewing processes, βSudβ in german) was a big motivation for creating this blog, besides my Selfhosted hobby.
In this category I also deal with other food-related topics, like brewing mead, fermenting kombucha, baking bread and general cooking recipes.- π my brewing setup
- π Coding, Programming & Note Taking
Here I write about my Obsidian setup and how I use it to deploy this website on GitHub, β¦ - π Media
β¦ - β Physics
β¦ - π³ Selfhosted
Iβve build myself a homelab to tinker with software. Some notes (mainly in this category) have evolved into full guides.
